Jax Mayor’s Race Off & Running

By Abel Harding

Now that the messy spectacle of the budget is behind us, the men and women that would like to be at the helm in 2011 are starting to step up.   Sulzbacher Center CEO Audrey Moran announced she would kick her campaign off on October 1, as did Duval County Tax CollectorMike Hogan.

Moran is a former civil rights attorney who served as Mayor John Delaney's Chief of Staff.  Most recently, Moran has served as the CEO of the Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless.

Hogan previously served on the Jacksonville City Council.  He left the Council to serve in the State House and resigned that seat early to run for Tax Collector, a post he has held since 2003.

The 2011 race for Mayor is expected to be rather crowded with several other individuals thought to be interested, including Publisher Jim Bailey, Councilwoman Glorious Johnson, Councilman Kevin Hyde and Councilman Ronnie Fussell, among others.
